Greetings Friends! 2020 has been a very interesting and challenging year for everyone. For the
Hallock family, it has been a year marked by change, taking steps of faith, and new adventures.

Karri For the last 14 ½ years Karri has worked at CLDI (a southside Billings nonprofit) as a Financial Administrator and Property Manager. But over the last few years, she has felt a strong desire to focus her
attention and time in our community in Laurel in both work and ministry at Grace Bible Church. In August, Karri resigned from CLDI to pursue some of her passions.

If you know Karri very well, she has always had a love for housing, (renovation and restoration) finances, (seeing people get out of debt), and helping/connecting people. My favorite way to describe Karri is “God loves you and my wife has a wonderful plan for your life!” So this fall, Karri took and passed the Montana Real Estate exam and took a training course to become a Financial Master Coach through Ramsey Financial Solutions (Dave Ramsey). In November Karri became a licensed agent with ERA American Real Estate. This has been a huge step of faith! Leaving the security and income of a job that she loved and knew so well was no easy thing. But she has been able to be lead bible studies and coach people from our church in their finances because her time is more
flexible.  We are very excited about her future possibilities. Check out Karri’s website at 406possibilities.com. Please pray for her in this new adventure!!

Kayla 2019-2020 marked Kayla’s first and second year as a Spanish teacher at Laurel High School. She loves her job and her students. The first year of teaching can be hard for anyone but Kayla’s first year was met with a real challenge, as the schools went online-only in March.  With schools opening back up in the fall of 2020, the school year has been an ever-changing experiment for all of our amazing educators, and we are so thankful for how they have adapted and endured.

2020 has brought about other changes in Kayla’s life. In November, Kayla got engaged to Levi Gray and they will be married on Feb. 27, 2021! Kayla and Levi have known each other almost all their lives as they both attended GBC and Levi’s Dad, Rob is also a Pastor there. They never interacted much growing up because Levi is 5 years older and went to school in Park City, MT. Last year Kayla and Levi got to know each other better during a tiling project at the new GBC building and through church softball. It has been a blast watching them become best friends and fall in love. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the young man that God has provided for our daughter and we all look forward to having a new family member! Please pray for Kayla and Levi in their new adventure!!

Courtney Courtney would not want to be left out in the new adventure deparment in 2020! Several weeks ago, she completed her schooling at Rocky Mountain College with a bachelor’s degree in biology and minors in mathematics and chemistry. She did it all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA and running cross country and track for RMC throughout her whole time in school, including this fall. Courtney also helped to establish a CRU ministry on the campuses of MSUB and RMC. (Sorry about the “dad-brag” but it’s kind of my job!)

Courtney is now working as an EMT at the Laurel Ambulance and at the Yellowstone Surgical Center, to get the hours of experience that she needs to enter into the medical field. She is also beginning the daunting process of studying for the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) that she will take in May of 2021. Courtney would like to get into medical school and become a doctor. It will be a huge challenge, with many years of study but she has been praying and searching for God’s will throughout the process and she is completely open to His will for her life. Please pray for Courtney in her new adventure!!

Chris 2020 was a stretching process for me too, as I am always learning to trust God day by day (It is a lesson I never stop learning.) Grace Bible Church purchased land for a new building in 1998, shortly after Karri and I had just begun attending. Over the past 22 years, our church has been growing as a body and saving
money with the hope of building this new facility.

In April of 2019, we broke ground on the new building. After the amazing process of fundraising half the cost of our new building, selling our old GBC buildings, finding temporary office space, meeting in another local church (thanks to Family Church), and overseeing a very challenging building project, we were set to move into the new building and have our first service there on the last Sunday of March of 2020. Our opening was interrupted by the pandemic.

During March and April, the amazing staff of GBC oversaw the move-in process, while I entered into the world of producing online-only church services! It was a steep learning curve, but we managed to get through it. In May we were able to resume meeting in person at our new building. By God’s providence, our new building is large enough that we have been able to have services while maintaining social distancing and Livestream our services for those who cannot attend. I am amazed at how God has been at work in all of this! The new GBC building is not a finish line but a starting point for ministry that we desire to see God do in Laurel. Please pray for us in this new adventure!!

We pray that God blesses, guides and protects you on the many new adventures that you will have in 2021!
