 Vision

GMI's vision is to see the worldwide Christian community make Spirit-guided use of research information to stimulate mission interest, shape mission appropriately, and carry it out effectively.

We believe that the right information, in appropriate formats, readily available to the right people, makes all the difference in the world in carrying out God's mission in the world.

The better the Church sees the world with fresh, godly insight, the better she will:

  • praise God for what He is doing;
  • pray for the people of the world;
  • understand and appreciate others; and
  • join with God in serving appropriately and effectively in mission.

 Mission

The mission of GMI is to produce and present world-class research that fuels emerging mission movements and leaders.

As a result, Christian leaders will:

      • Embrace the role and value of research information in mission.
      • Recognize what information is critical for their ministries.
      • Access relevant information at reasonable cost.
      • Skillfully gather, manage, analyze and apply mission information.
      • Invest in sharing, communicating and publishing mission information.

 Priorities

GMI’s highest priority is empowering evangelical ministry leaders in places where mission information resources are relatively scarce and unaffordable (the majority world), especially those leaders who are directly involved in the process of world evangelization.

GMI's preferred style of ministry is partnership, whether for a specific project or an open-ended relationship.

Prayer Requests for the Month of January

Please pray with us about the following during January:

1. Pray for GMI staff who will be training graduate students to do applied missions research at Africa International University in Nairobi, Kenya, the first week of January.

2. Pray for GMI staff as they host missions author Patrick Johnstone for four days of meetings in Colorado Springs, January 19-22, presenting and teaching from his new book, The Future of the Global Church.

3. Pray for Mike & Laura O’Rear’s son and daughter-in-law Joe and Megan as they are expecting triplets in April; pray for the health of mother and babies, and for their search for a larger apartment or house.

Prayer Update:

Please remember Mike O'Rear's family in your prayers.  Mike was called home to be with his Savior January 14th, 2012 after a sudden heart attack.  He will be greatly missed!  The following was taken from their website.

“Mike’s death is a tragic loss for all of us who considered him a close friend as well as a loss for GMI, the mission community in Colorado Springs, the US and the entire world,” said GMI board chair Jane Overstreet.

Mike was married to Laura, his partner in life and in ministry for 28 years. She served alongside him at GMI.  They have four adult children, one grandson and a daughter-in-law expecting triplets later this year."
